Project Wrap: EJPPG Frequently Asked Questions Videos

This project actually wrapped a few weeks ago, but I’m just now getting around to writing about it and sharing it here.  Eskimo Joe’s Promotional Products Group held a client day and product exhibition in June, and I was asked to shoot interviews with EJPPG clients about their experiences with the company.  I asked each interviewee similar questions about EJPPG’s services, and edited the footage into seven, 1:30 minute or less videos.  Each video is edited to go along with a Frequently Asked Question on EJPPG’s website.  For example, the above video was edited to go along with the FAQ, “What can people order from EJPPG?”

I thought the concept of letting the clients answer the frequently asked questions was fun and different, and certainly reinforces the idea that EJPPG clients are happy customers.  The other videos answer questions about the quoting process, art department, and customer satisfaction guarantee.  Hopefully, EJPPG will update their site soon so I can link to all of the videos (I’m only sharing one since the EJPPG FAQ page isn’t finished yet).

This footage was shot with a Sony HVR-Z1U and edited in FCP 7.  I used a great filter from Lyric Media on some of the interviews that were shot when it got cloudy later in the day – it’s called ‘Shadow-Highlight.’ It gave much more natural results than just upping the brightness and contrast. Also, I have no idea why Vimeo decided to crop and squeeze a full-HD, 1920×1080 video. Obviously, I need to look in to that issue!

video projects currently under construction

A freak thunderstorm last week threw a major wrench in our music video production of  “All Roads Lead to Joe’s.”  It rained just hard and long enough for us to have to cancel that part of the day’s production, but the weather cleared out in plenty of time for the Bart Crow Band to go onstage.  As you can see from these screenshots, it was a beautiful night:

Look for an announcement about the completion of this video around the first of September.

I’ve still got a few more under-a-minute videos to make for the EJPPG website’s new FAQ and Client Testimonials sections.  I’m really tickled with how well those are coming along & can’t wait to get those up next week so I can share them with you.  But for now, here’s a screen-shot of a well-lit, well-framed interviewee!

A well-lit subject!

And then there’s the last installment of a training video I’m still tinkering with. I’m thinking about altering this motion graphic to use in transitions, but I’m still not sure how I want to change it up:

In other news, I’m down to 78 GB of a 1 TB hard drive already.  Time to start thinking about long-term storage options. Yuck.

Some Favorite Things

This week has been a little busy & stressful, and I thought I’d share some of this week’s favorite things that are helping me get through it:

1) Wine.  Dr. Loosen’s Riesling, to be exact.

"Really Loosen's You Up" ahaha

note: I can’t find the original source to credit this photo.

2) This awesome promo for the NBA playoffs.  I’ve been trying to come up with a way to use my “I Am T-Pain” auto-tune app constructively for a while now, and this promo demonstrates how auto-tune can be used for more than just bad rap songs and Gregory Brothers videos.  This promo made me want to watch the playoffs, and I don’t even like the NBA.

3) Feeling all grown-up with this new cookware set I got for my 5 year service award from SCC.  Woot!

note: I can’t find the original source to credit this photo.

4) Knowing that most of my friends and family will be able to make our graduation celebration in two weeks.

5) Free FCP plug-ins and garbage mattes.  I’m having fun figuring out more about mattes.

6) All the flowers that are starting to bloom around my house!

7) My “guilty pleasure” TV shows: House, Glee, and Justified.

8) These great quotes I found via Design Crush.  So incredibly true.

9) Soundboards.  Particularly from The Room and Instant Fun!

10) And the best for last – Tanner and Ein. Enough said!
