I Hate Schedule Conflicts!
Today was the first day of a Multimedia Basics Workshop with Amy Zerba from CNN. As a new faculty member at SJB, I was told about this workshop in the spring and invited (nay, encouraged) to attend by our department head. I was pretty excited about the workshop when Dr. H. told me about it, but I never knew when exactly the workshop was going down (I had assumed it would be in August). Then I got a call this morning that the workshop started today – but I was already on my way out of town to go wedding dress shopping with little sister! Yipes!
I’m really bummed I missed the first day of the workshop, but I think I would’ve been more disappointed in myself had I ditched little sister. After all, family really is more important in the long run. Little sister was already feeling like I didn’t have time for her (I’ve rescheduled dress shopping three times already), and as her matron-of-honor it’s definitely my job to be with her on these big occasions. I suppose the lesson for today is to take care of the most important people in your life first, and sort the rest of it out around that.
Little sister found The Dress, and it’s beautiful. I even teared up a little as she stood there in the dress with the veil and jewelry. I even managed to ignore calls and emails from work until we got back home, and that’s a fete in and of itself. I have re-arranged my schedule for the next two days to make the rest of the workshop. I think there’s a lot of great information and I look forward to meeting Amy Zerba tomorrow. Hopefully Dr. H. isn’t too disappointed.
