photos from after the May 19 tornado

Stillwater (along with the rest of Oklahoma) was hit by a pretty big storm on May 19. I had planned to go to Jackie and Janelle’s apartment for dinner that night, but once we realized the severity of the storm I made the girls come over to our house (it’s a lot more secure than Campus Park!). There was a tornado on the ground crossing I-35 and coming essentially straight up Highway 51, so Tanner and I decided to move the family to the safety of the OSU Student Union basement. We were certainly not alone; there were hundreds of other families and students there. Luckily, the storm veered to the North on its way in to Stillwater and after an hour or so we felt safe heading home. It was still raining, thundering and even lightening, but the sun was shining brightly as it went down in the West. I thought it was really beautiful, so I took the photos below from my front door. Hope you enjoy!
